Purpose of Published Books

  • In his personal autobiography, An Autobiographical Expression of My Perspectives, Bvute presents a narration based on his personal experiences and observations. He adopted an eclectic approach to avoid boring readers with a simple historical narration of his life. At the personal level, his autobiography explores how family, faith, and national identity have influenced his worldview, providing thought-provoking insights into Zimbabwe’s social and political evolution.

In addition to his life journey, he offers, in summary and in a very frank manner, the totality of his worldly and religious views on controversial matters that touch on religion, national and international politics, and security considerations, as well as economic issues. In recognition of the direct and indirect influences of certain key developments and phenomena on his personal life, and likely on those of others, he also delves, albeit in brief, into the issues of diseases and epidemics, climate change, and the environment, the information revolution, and aspects of technological advances. He  found it necessary to touch briefly on the trends, pros and cons of the related developments and proffers some tentative suggestions for multilateral responses

The book is essentially about his journey of self-discovery, resilience, and the impact of history on personal growth. The hope is that by sharing his experiences he can inspire others to reflect on their own paths and the role their families, communities and the broader environment  play in shaping them and the world around them. It should therefore provide an interesting read and reference for different people.

  • His second book Basic Economic Indicators: Reader’s Guide with Zimbabwe Scenarios is a techno-economic sequel to his autobiography wherein he narrates childhood and adulthood experiences with economic issues and the lessons He uses these to offer some basic advice on personal financial management to cope with changing economic environments. Bvute was almost driven into bankruptcy and economic ruin during Zimbabwe’s economic meltdown of 2006 to 2008 from which he learned painful lessons as narrated in his autobiography. This book is meant to equip him and others with analytical tools for proactivity to avoid repeats and improve overall economic management for stability and sustainable development.

The book presents basic macroeconomic indicators that can guide individuals, businesses and economic policymakers and implementors on the direction the economy is taking and some of the proactive actions that need to be taken. The key economic indicators whose developments individuals, students of economics, professional Economists, and Policymakers need to be aware of, track and take proactive action against potential risks are discussed.

The importance of figures in informing rational economic decisions is emphasised. A flexible monitoring tool, the Economic Performance Flashcard proposed in the book, is based on the list of indicators covered therein.

While economic principles are universal, their application varies from country to country. Use of Zimbabwean scenarios in in the book is meant to provide examples of application. From the Zimbabwean experiences, readers from other countries can learn the dos and donts of sound economic management and how to respond proactively to changes in the economic environment.

  • Writing of the book Ramifications of a Possible New World War: A Layman’s Assessment was motivated by a desire to increase global awareness of geopolitical developments which could have global implications such as the fallout from a nuclear war or massive global economic displacement resulting from intense internationalised conflicts. Developments in the Ukraine conflict in particular, showed signs of dangerous escalations that could easily lead to a nuclear catastrophe.

Wars usually result in the death and displacent of many people, mostly civilians and to the colosal destruction of property whether personal, business, public or vital infrastructure. These will take years and large amounts of money to reconstruct. Bvute had personal experience with the effects of war when his high school education was dirupted and he was forced out of his beloved area of birth and childhood to become an Internally Displaced Person (IDP) during the then Rhodesian ( now Zimbabwe) civil war of the mid to late 1970s. Memories of these traumatic experiences which are narrated in his autobiography are still vivid in his mind to this day. Scenes of millions of victims of war appearing on mobile phone, computer and TV serve as a daily reminder of the suffering of innocent people in senseless wars initiated by selfish individuals, arms suppliers and armed groups in pusuit of power and money.

Following from his personal experiences and observations, Bvute is a strong advocate for an end to all wars, the pursuit of global peace and the redirection of resources from waste through death and destrction of property and infrastructure. All conflicts should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy and not through force of arms. Through this book, Bvute hopes to raise global awareness about the dangers of armed conflicts escalating to a new world war which may involve the catastrophic use of weapons of mass destruction including nuclear weapons. Bvute argues that global cooperation and multilateral diplomacy are the only viable paths to preventing a catastrophic conflict. He encourages timely dialogue toward peaceful resolution of all conflicts.

The book serves as a wake-up call for policymakers, academics, and the general public to stop the possibility of a nuclear war.

Future Plans

Bvute plans to live a peaceful and balanced life. One connecting theme across his three published books is a strong expression of the need for an end to all armed conflicts in the world through multilateral dialogue, the attainment of global peace, good economic management practices for stability across countries, global reallocation of resources from death and destruction through wars to sustainable development and prosperity for all mankind. Accordingly, he he commits to cooperate with global peace movements and all leaders who advocate for world peace, a just and prosperous world for all.

Sustainable development requires appropriately structured financing. Globaly, significant development finance could come from the global peace divident resulting from savings and redirection of funds from war to development. Bvute has now set his eyes on his fourth book which will focus on development financing.
